Open Day
Steve Drayson, MD of Allied Office Machines, welcomes visitors
To celebrate our move to new premises in Belbins Business Park, Romsey, we invited our clients to attend our Open Day, which was very well attended by representatives from local small businesses and global corporations.
As well as the opportunity to “meet the staff” and enjoy a buffet lunch, everyone was invited to attend open seminars throughout the day which looked at ways to improve efficiency in the workplace, including document management and reducing printing costs. Presentations given by Paul Donohue of Digital Workplace Services and Ross Ludlow of Infotec were well received and generated plenty of discussion afterwards. A lot of networking went on too!
Paul Donohue (DWS) and Nigel Grace (Dyer & Butler)
The presentations are available to download as a PDF document or separate PowerPoint shows. Both presentations show some very interesting figures as regards to how much paper is consumed in this country - so much for the paperless office!
One way forward is to invest in document management. Once the preserve of blue chip companies, existing document management systems are now very affordable and come with scalable modules including workflow systems.

Another issue is managing printing costs. Again, there is existing software that analyses all printers on your network and allows you to assign specific types of jobs to appropriate machines.
The feedback from attendees was so good that we have decided to hold similar events in future with guest speakers from among our clients and partners, who have expertise in specific areas so that ideas can be shared for the benefit of all.
